Venture Global Inc. has taken final investment decision (FID) and successfully closed $15.1 billion of project financing for both the 14-million tonne/year (tpy) first phase of its CP2 LNG plant in Cameron Parish, La., and the associated 4.4-bcfd CP Express Pipeline. The project is expected to begin producing LNG in 2027.
CP2 will have an ultimate peak production capacity of 28 million tpy once fully operational. Phase 1 has long-term sales agreements in place with customers in Europe, Asia, and the rest of the world. In July 2025 alone Venture Global reached 20-year agreements with both Eni SPA and Petronas LNG Ltd. and expanded the volume of an already existing agreement with Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) GMBH (OGJ Online, July 16, 2025).
Venture Global says it has a total of 43.5 million tpy of offtake under contract between its 10-million tpy Calcasieu Pass LNG plant, 20-million tpy Plaquemines LNG plant, and CP2 LNG.
The company is also developing its +30-million tpy CP3 plant. Current works, also in Cameron Parish, include siting to optimize plans for a feedgas pipeline.
