Viaro Energy has appointed Jillian Owen as chief operating officer, effective August 2025. She succeeds Alistair Buchan, who is retiring.

Owen joined Viaro in March 2025 to lead the integration of Shell plc and ExxonMobil’s Southern North Sea portfolio into Viaro’s existing asset base and move Viaro to a full upstream operator from a non-operating partner.

Owen holds more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector and previously spent over a decade at Apache Corp. in various roles, including UK country manager. She also served on the board of Offshore Energies UK, where she had a direct impact on policy development and the future of the industry.

Owen will continue to support the final stages of the Shell and ExxonMobil Southern North Sea portfolio transition while assuming full operational leadership of Viaro, the company said.
