ExxonMobil Moçambique Ltda. has let a subsea production system contract to SLB’s OneSubsea joint venture for the first phase of the offshore Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique.

As part of the contract scope, SLB OneSubsea will provide engineering, procurement, and manufacturing, along with installation services, including delivery of subsea trees, manifolds, umbilicals, and associated control systems designed to support efficient production from the deepwater field, the service provider said.

In line with the project, SLB OneSubsea said it also intends to establish a base in Mozambique to serve operators across the region to further support development of regional supply chains.

The Rovuma LNG project is anticipated to produce, liquefy, and market natural gas from reservoirs of the Area 4 block of the offshore Rovuma basin. The deepwater block contains more than 85 tcf of natural gas.

The project's associated LNG plant will have an overall production capacity of 18 million tonnes/year.

Area 4 is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture MRV SPA (70%), a joint venture owned by ExxonMobil, Eni spa, and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) with partners Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos EP (10%), Korea Gas Corp. (10%), and XRG (10%).
