ExxonMobil, ANPG sign contract addendum to further develop Block 15 offshore Angola
ExxonMobil signed an addendum with Angola’s National Agency of Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels (ANPG) for Block 15 work.
Block 15 is operated by ExxonMobil through a consortium of partners Azule Energy, Equinor, and Sonangol E&P.
On July 10, in Luanda, an addendum to the production sharing contract (CPP) for the block was signed that extends the production license until 2037 and allows the extension of the useful life of the Kizomba A, Kizomba B, Mondo and Saxi-Batuque infrastructure, subject to the final investment decision, ANPG said in a release July 14. The aim is to enable further development of the remaining resources in Block 15, the agency continued.
Many of Angola’s oil assets are mature, said ANPG executive director Alcides Andrade.
"Given this reality, by identifying innovative technical solutions and adapted contractual models, such as this Addendum, we are paving the way for the revitalization of existing fields and maximizing the value of remaining resources. This Addendum extends the useful life of four important Angolan offshore facilities [floating production storage and offloading vessels], namely Mondo and Saxi-Batuque, until 2032, as well as Kizomba A and Kizomba B, until 2037, thus consolidating them into a single development area," he said.
The block lies about 145 km off the northern coast of Angola. First production began in 2003 from Xicomba field.
Angola Block 15 contract award
In a separate release July 14, Oceaneering International Inc. said ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Ltd. let a contract to Oceaneering subsidiaries Oceaneering Angola SA and Oceaneering Marine Technologies Ltd. for services in support of Esso’s offshore operations in Angola Block 15.
The contract, which began on July 1, 2025, is expected to generate $80 million to $90 million in revenue over its 3-year term, Oceaneering said in a release July 14.
The work scope includes the provision of multiple work-class ROVs, ROV tooling, intervention workover control systems (IWOCS), satellite communication systems, and subsea inspection, hydrate remediation, and engineering services. The services will be deployed from Esso-supplied facilities, intervention vessels, and drilling rigs.
