Shell lets tubular contract for Orca

Drilling at the Orca project offshore Brazil is expected to begin in April 2027.

Shell let a contract to Vallourec for the development of the Orca gas-condensate project offshore Brazil.

The contract includes seamless pipes and premium connections ranging from 4.5-18 in. OD, with both carbon and stainless-steel tubulars and associated accessories. Vallourec will also provide desk engineering, material coordination, rig preparation, offshore supervision, and rig return repairs.

Drilling is expected in April 2027. The current drilling plan includes ten wells with an estimated 12,000-15,000 tons of pipe.

Orca (formerly known as Gato do Mato) is a major deepwater oil and gas development operated by Shell in Block S-M-518 of Santos basin presalt, offshore Brazil.
