Shell lets drilling contract to Maersk Developer

Shell let an offshore drilling contract to Maersk Drilling Co. for the Mærsk Developer semisubmersible drilling rig for work in Campos basin, offshore Brazil.

Shell Brasil Petroleo Ltda. (Shell Brasil) let an offshore drilling contract to Maersk Drilling Co. for the Mærsk Developer semisubmersible drilling rig for work in Campos basin, offshore Brazil.

The rig will drill one exploration well and perform subsea well interventions at BC-10 field.

The contract is expected to begin in March 2023, in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract, with an estimated duration of 90 days. The contract value is about $37 million, including a mobilization fee.

Maersk Developer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized dynamically positioned semisubmersible rig, able to operate in water depths up to 10,000 ft. It was delivered in 2009 and is currently operating offshore Brazil for Karoon Energy Ltd. (OGJ Online, Sept. 26, 2022).
