Spirit Energy gets regulatory nod for Barents Sea exploration drilling

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority approved plans by Spirit Energy, operator for production license 719 in the Barents Sea, to drill an exploration well in Block 7321/8.

Well 7321/8-2 S in expected to be drilled in 54 days by Leiv Eiriksson harsh-environment semisubmersible drilling rig in 466 m of water.

PL 719, in the Fingerd'jupe basin, includes Blocks 7321/8 and 7321/9 in water depths of 430-490 m.

Spirit Energy is operator of the license with 50%. Partners are Lukoil (30%) and Norwegian North Energy (20%).
