Equinor granted Barents Sea drilling permit

Equinor Energy AS has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate to drill wildcat well 7220/5-EC-2 H in production license (PL) 532.
The well will be drilled by the Transocean Enabler semisubmersible drilling platform in the Barents Sea about 240 km northwest of Hammerfest.
PL 532 contains Johan Castberg field which gathers and develops resources covering Skrugard, Havis, and Drivis discoveries. The fields together hold estimated recoverable reserves of 450–650 million bbl of oil.
Equinor is operator of the license with 46.3% interest. Partners are Vår Energi ASA (30%) and Petoro AS (23.7%).
