Chariot Ltd. expects to begin drilling operations for the Anchois gas appraisal well within the Lixus license, offshore Morocco, in December. The license covers an area of about 2,390 sq km with water depths ranging from the coastline to 850 m.

The Stena Don semi-submersible rig has been contracted to drill the well, with drilling expected to take about 40 days.

The objectives of the drilling campaign are to further evaluate resource volumes of the Anchois gas field, to provide a future producer well location, and potentially drill additional prospective sands with the aim of establishing a larger resource base for longer term growth.

Currently, the Anchois-1 gas discovery has 361 bcf 2C contingent resources with 690 2U bcf prospective resources.

The company has let a contract to Halliburton for project management, directional drilling and logging whilst drilling, drilling fluids and engineering, cementing, wireline logging, drill bits, and coring.

Chariot is operator at Lixus (75%) with partner Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM, 25%).
