Aladdin Middle East Ltd. (AME) will sidetrack the Basur-3 (B-3) appraisal well in Resan license AR/AME-UKO/K/M47-b1 and b2, southwest Turkey, due to a stuck bottom hole assembly.

A deviated mechanical sidetrack, B-3s, is required to test Garzan and Mardin targets after the directional drilling assembly was stuck in the 12 ¼-in. hole section. The rig performed a successful fishing operation to free the assembly and return it back to surface. The incident occurred after the well had reached a drilled depth immediately above the Garzan and Mardin objectives (OGJ Online, Apr. 7, 2021).

To ensure the sidetrack is optimally located, AME will pause drilling until after acquisition and processing of a new seismic survey, scheduled for August 2021. The new seismic data will cover the sidetrack's planned trajectory.

Aladdin Middle East is operator in the license (50%) with partner UKOG Turkey (50%), a wholly owned UKOG subsidiary.
