Resan license partners to start appraisal drilling

Aladdin Middle East has been granted formal consent to drill the Basur-3 appraisal well in Resan license AR/AME-UKO/K/M47-b1 and b2, southwest Turkey, by the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

Aladdin Middle East has been granted formal consent to drill the Basur-3 appraisal well in Resan license AR/AME-UKO/K/M47-b1 and b2, southwest Turkey, by the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, partner UK Oil & Gas PLC said in a release Apr. 7.

The license, which contains the Basur-Resan oil discovery. covers 305 sq km of the southeast Anatolian basin, a geological continuation of the Zagros fold-belt petroleum system within the foothills of the Taurus-Zagros mountains in Iraq, Iran, and Turkey (OGJ Online, Jul. 23, 2020).

Basur-3 is a step towards establishing commerciality of the Basur-Resan Mardin oil pool, calculated to contain potentially transformational discovered recoverable oil resources, UK Oil & Gas said.  

Drilling pad and access road construction is expected to be completed by end May.

Aladdin Middle East is operator in the license (50%) with partner UKOG Turkey (50%), a wholly owned UKOG subsidiary.
