Petronas Suriname Exploration & Production BV (PSEPBV) has contracted the Mærsk Developer rig for a one-well exploration campaign in Block 52, offshore Suriname. The contract, which includes an additional one-well option, is expected to begin in this year’s third or fourth quarter, with an estimated duration of 75 days.

Mærsk estimates the contract value at $20.4 million, including integrated drilling services with mobilization and demobilization fees.

Mærsk Developer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized dynamically positioned semi-submersible rig, able to operate in water depths up to 10,000 ft. It is currently warm-stacked in Aruba after ending its latest contract offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

PSEPBV farmed out a 50% interest in the block to ExxonMobil subsidiary ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Suriname BV in May (OGJ Online, May 19, 2020).
