Kuwait Energy Egypt finished drilling the ASH-3 development well in ASH field in the Abu Sennan concession, onshore Egypt, said partner United Oil & Gas PLC in a Feb. 15 release.

ASH-3 spudded on Jan. 4 and reached 4,087 m MD TD (3,918m TVDSS) on Feb. 8, 5 days ahead of schedule and under budget (OGJ Online, Jan. 5, 2021). The well is a step-out and has been logged and interpreted to have 27.5 m net pay over a 59 m gross hydrocarbon column in the primary Alem El Buieb (AEB) reservoir target.

Initial testing will be completed in the coming days before the well is brought onstream through existing ASH field facilities.

The ED-50 rig will then move to the north of the license, close to the producing Al Jahraa field to commence the drilling of the ASD-1X exploration well. This well is targeting the Abu Roash reservoirs in the 4-way dip-closed Prospect D structure and, if successful, can quickly be brought into production.

Kuwait Energy Egypt is operator of the license. United Oil & Gas holds a 22% working interest.
