NuVista Energy Ltd., Calgary, has temporarily curtailed production in the greater Wapiti area of the Alberta Deep Basin due to unscheduled maintenance at a third-party gas plant.

The curtailment will impact December production volumes, the company said in a release Dec. 18.

NuVIsta said prior to the curtailment, its production was in line with fourth-quarter guidance, averaging over 90,000 boe/d in both October and November. With the downtime, however, the operator has revised its fourth-quarter guidance to 83,000-84,000 boe/d from 89,000-91,000 boe/d, leading to expected production just below the low end of the full-year range of 83,500-86,000 boe/d, the company said.

The gas plant is currently being re-started, and production levels are expected to rise back above 90,000 boe/d to exit 2024.
