NuVista Energy Ltd., Calgary, restarted over the weekend most operations previously curtailed in the Grande Prairie area of Alberta.
Daily production has currently increased to about 65,000 boe/d as more favorable winds and weather have allowed a restart of the estimated 35,000 boe/d impact the wildfire risk had on operations from May 5-22, the company said in a release May 23.
As previously advised, several of the company’s fields were shut in on May 5 as a precautionary measure as was the case for the company’s midstream partners (OGJ Online, May 8, 2023).
If rain and favorable winds occur as forecast, NuVista expects to restore full production levels of about 80,000 boe/d or more as soon as the situation stabilizes fully. The company expects to provide quarterly production guidance at that time.
