Strike Energy entered into a 2-year gas transportation agreement with APA Group for delivery of 10 terajoules/day of gas to be delivered into the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) from its Walyering gas processing plant (OGJ Online, Aug. 15, 2022).

The gas will be transported via a new inter-pipeline connection at Mondarra being constructed and commissioned by APA. This infrastructure is expected to be operational by late-2024.

Strike said the agreement will allow the company to access the much larger and liquid market connected to the DBNGP where about 95% of WA’s daily gas is sold and consumed. Strike intends to run a marketing process for this additional volume in the coming months.

Strike said Walyering gas field in the North Perth basin exceeded nameplate capacity on Feb. 6, 2024, delivering 34 terajoules/day and 265 b/d of condensate into the Western Australian domestic gas market.

In the coming quarter, the operator plans to drill the Walyering-7 appraisal well, which on success could allow the company to add throughput, expanding market share on the Parmelia Gas Pipeline and using its gas transportation agreement with APA Group to deliver volumes into the DBNGP.
