HOUSTON, Nov. 12
– Northern Petroleum PLC is preparing to spud the Markwells Wood -1 exploratory well in West Sussex, UK, to test a target with mean potential of 35 million bbl of oil in place.

The location is in the Weald basin between Horndean and Singleton producing oil fields and is assessed to be an extension of Horndean. Projected depth is 6,009 ft measured depth, 4,528 ft true vertical depth.

License interests are Northern 50%, Magellan Petroleum (UK) Ltd. 40%, and Egdon Resources UK Ltd. 10%.
