    EnLink Midstream LLC have started the first carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in north Texas’s Barnett shale (OGJ Online, June 10, 2022).

    Initial injection of carbon dioxide (CO2) waste generated from EnLink's Bridgeport natural gas processing plant and neighboring operations took place at BKV's Barnett Zero CCS plant, the companies said in a joint release Nov. 13.

    Barnett Zero is one of the first purpose-drilled, Class II commercial carbon sequestration wells injecting CO2 waste from natural gas processing plants in the US.

    Daily, Barnett Zero can remove enough carbon to offset the emissions of about 45,000 automobiles, according to BKV. It is projected to sequester up to 210,000 metric tons/year of CO2e.
