Hurricane appoints Maris as chief executive officer designate
Hurricane Energy PLC has appointed Antony Maris as an executive director and chief executive officer designate.
Maris has 35 years of oil and gas sector technical and business leadership experience. Most recently, he spent 15 years with Pharos Energy PLC (previously SOCO International PLC) where he was chief operating officer from 2012-2020 where he was responsible for the development and operation of several oilfields including fractured basement reservoirs offshore Vietnam and onshore Yemen.
Maris will work alongside the interim chief executive officer, Beverley Smith, for a transition period and will assume the role of chief executive officer following the publication of the company's interim 2020 financial results, which are scheduled for release on Sept. 11, at which time Smith will return to a non-executive role.
Smith was appointed interim chief executive officer in June following the resignation of Dr. Robert Trice (OGJ Online, June 8, 2020).
