Extraction names Owens CEO following Erickson departure

Extraction Oil & Gas Inc., Denver, has appointed Matt Owens as chief executive officer and appointed Thomas Tyree, Jr. as executive chairman following the departure of Mark Erickson as chief executive officer and chairman of the board, effective Mar. 4.

Owens, who has been serving as acting chief executive officer since April 2019, will retain his roles as president and board member. Prior to founding Extraction with Erickson in 2012, Owens served as an operations engineer at PDC Energy and Gasco Energy.

Tyree currently serves as a director of Antero Resources Corp. and as non-executive chairman of the board of Northwoods Energy LLC. Tyree was previously Northwoods’ founder, chief executive officer, and executive chairman, from January 2018 until April 2019.
