David R. Looney has been named executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Murphy Oil Corp., El Dorado, Ark. He also will serve as a member of the board.
Looney will succeed John W. Eckart who is to retire from the company later this year. Eckart will relinquish his position as chief financial officer on Mar. 1 but continue in active service for to assist in the transition.
Looney’s 38-year career as a financial executive includes leadership roles at both offshore deepwater Gulf of Mexico and US onshore unconventional exploration and production companies.
