Saipem Inc., as contractor for the TotalFinaElf SA-led Canyon Express project in the Gulf of Mexico, has awarded Saibos CML�a 50-50 subsidiary of Bouygues Offshore Group and Saipem SPA�a $30 million contract to lay pipe for the project. Saibos will install two 12-in., 90-km pipelines between the Canyon Station platform and King's Peak, Aconcagua, and Camden Hills deepwater fields. It will also build and install 11 in-line sleds and their connections via 6-in. rigid jumpers to the subsea wells. Offshore operations will begin in the second quarter.
El Paso Natural Gas Co., a subsidiary of El Paso Corp., announced an open season for possible expansion of its existing pipeline system. The open season began Mar. 2 and will continue through Mar. 23. Recently, El Paso Natural Gas received bids totaling 14.4 bcfd for 1.22 bcfd of available capacity on its pipeline system serving California (OGJ Online, Mar. 1, 2001).
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. said its open season for the proposed Connecticut-Long Island Lateral pipeline project received bids for 1.6 bcfd of capacity. The 100-mile project would move up to 450,000 dekatherms/day from Tennessee Gas Pipeline's mainline in Massachusetts to Suffolk County on eastern Long Island, NY (OGJ Online, Feb. 6, 2001).
