Shell exercises 2-year extension of brownfield services contract in Brunei

The scope of work covers maintenance and upgrades to sustain production levels across offshore assets in the South China Sea, with PTAS Aker Solutions serving as the main contractor.

Brunei Shell Petroleum has let a 2-year contract extension to Aker Solutions ASA to provide offshore maintenance and modification services, exercising an option included in a current agreement.

PTAS Aker Solutions, a joint venture between Aker Solutions and the Brunei company PTAS Sdn Bhd, has been awarded the extension, work for which will be managed from PTAS Aker Solutions’s office in Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam. 

The scope of work covers maintenance and upgrades to sustain production levels across offshore assets in the South China Sea, with PTAS Aker Solutions serving as the main contractor, the company said in a release June 4. 

Aker Solutions secured the first Offshore Restoration Maintenance Construction contract for Brunei Shell Petroleum in 2012 and the current contract in 2020 as PTAS Aker Solutions (OGJ Online, Mar. 30, 2020).

Aker Solutions values the contract between NOK 1.5 billion and NOK 2.5 billion.

Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. Sdn Bhd is a joint venture of the Brunei government and Shell plc.
