bp lets 2-year extension for ultradeep drillship

bp has let a 2-year contract extension to Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for use of the Ocean BlackHornet drillship. 

bp has let a 2-year contract extension to Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for use of the Ocean BlackHornet rig.   

Ocean BlackHornet is an ultradeep (> 7.500 ft) drillship currently operating under contract in the Gulf of Mexico. 

This contract represents about $350 million dollars of additional backlog. The contract will begin in February 2025 in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract. bp has been using the rig since February 2020.
