Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) intends to exercise its right of first refusal to acquire the Jaspe block in Brazil’s Campos basin.

The operator expressed its interest to the National Energy Policy Council Jan. 24, it said in a release. The offshore block, which is estimated to hold reserves of up to 3 billion boe, is expected to be tendered by the country’s regulator.

Petrobras said the expression of interest is in line with it strategy to focus on profitable assets and replenishing oil and gas reserves.
