Pemex lets drilling contract for work offshore Mexico

Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) let a contract to Dolphin Drilling for use of the Blackford Dolphin semisubmersible drilling rig for an expected period of 15 months. The rig is currently mobilizing for Mexico and work is expected to begin in October.

Dolphin Drilling places the value of the contract at $83 million.

The Blackford Dolphin was completely rebuilt in 2008 with a sixth-generation topsides and can operate in water depths from 700-1,700 m while moored.
