Baker Hughes forms strategic alliances to boost Venezuela's oil, gas sectors
Baker Hughes has entered two strategic agreements to support upstream development, midstream infrastructure, gas monetization, and LNG commercialization in Venezuela.
Under a first agreement, Baker Hughes formed a strategic alliance with Petróleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), Lindsayca Inc., and Fulcrum LNG Inc. aimed at revitalizing and expanding Venezuela’s natural gas infrastructure, the service company said in a release Oct. 5.
As part of the alliance, the parties will combine Baker Hughes' portfolio for oil and gas field development, gas infrastructure, and LNG solutions alongside Lindsayca's engineering, procurement, construction, and operational capabilities, and Fulcrum's midstream and LNG project development, financing, and market access.
The collaboration will focus on developing project specific agreements, advancing critical infrastructure required to process, transport, commercialize, and export natural gas.
The alliance is a cooperation framework, and any specific project will be subject to separate definitive agreements, each party’s internal approvals, and applicable US sanctions and export control requirements including authorizations issued by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Baker Hughes said.
Upon announcing the PDVSA-Lindsayca-Fulcrum LNG strategic alliance, Baker Hughes also confirmed previously signing a separate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with New Stratus Energy Inc. to support the development of future Venezuelan oil and gas prospects.
Under the MOU, the partnership will leverage Baker Hughes' integrated portfolio of subsurface, drilling, production, processing, digital, emissions abatement, power generation, oil and gas monetization, and LNG technologies to maximize resource recovery opportunities and accelerate future project developments.
Neither Baker Hughes nor its fellow parties to these latest agreements revealed further details regarding specific projects to be included as part of the collaborations.
