Two wells—Chiricoca 1 and Tigana Sur 6—have discovered oil on Colombia’s Llanos 34 block, according to GeoPark Ltd. The Chricoca 1 was drilled to a total depth of 11,966 ft, testing the Mirador and Guadalupe formations.

The Mirador production test produced 1,000 b/d of 34° gravity oil, with 9% water cut, through a 33/64 mm choke at 34 psi. The deeper Guadalupe formation was also tested, producing water with traces of heavy oil. Surface facilities are in place and the well is in production. Stabilized flow rates will be determined with additional production history, the company said.

The Tigana Sur 6 well was drilled to a depth of 11,645 ft, and was tested in the lower Guadalupe formation. The well produced 1,600 b/d of 15° gravity oil, with 8% water cut, through a 52/64 mm choke at 70 psi. GeoPark said this well is also already in production.

The Tigana Sur 6 well is producing from 57 ft net pay from the lower Guadalupe, which represents a 60% thickening of the average net pay in other Tigana oil field wells producing from Guadalupe. The well encountered a new set of reservoir sands in the upper Guadalupe formation, which GeoPark says appear to be oil bearing from preliminary petrophysical logs.

GeoPark operates Colombia’s Llanos 34 block with 45% working interest. The company has plans to drill 30-35 wells in Colombia and other Latin American assets in 2017. In third-quarter 2016, Geopark reported average net production in Colombia of a rounded 15,678 boe/d, up 20% from the same period in 2015 (OGJ Online, Oct. 14, 2016). Most of the company’s output was from Jacana field, also on Llanos 34.
