The US Bureau of Land Management is seeking comments on Noble Energy Inc.’s proposed natural gas exploration drilling on leases it holds in the Tabor Flats area west of Wells, Nev. It will accept comments through Apr. 27 on BLM’s environmental assessment and the Houston independent producer’s master surface use plan for the project, BLM’s Wells field office said.
It said Noble plans to drill and complete as many as 20 wells using hydraulic fracturing over more than 2 years on public and private land about 4 miles northwest of the northeastern Nevada community. Construction associated with the project would include drill pads and roads, as well as maintenance or upgrades to existing roads to allow for drill rig and support vehicle traffic.
The project area would cover 39,445 acres, including 20,622 acres on public land (52% of the project area), 2,603 acres on private land with BLM-administered subsurface mineral rights (7%), and 16,220 acres of private lands and minerals (41%), the Mar. 24 announcement said.
