BLM seeks input for March lease sales in six states

Colorado holds the bulk of the parcels and acreage slated for lease, at 103 oil and gas parcels covering 72,848 acres in the state.

The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) intends to offer 114 oil and gas parcels, covering over 90,000 acres, in Colorado and Nevada lease sales in March 2026.

BLM Nov. 12 also announced it would offer 8 oil and gas leases, totaling 506 acres in Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, and Mississippi during its Eastern States sale, also scheduled for March. 

The agency opened a 30-day public comment period through Dec. 12 to receive public input.

Colorado holds the bulk of the parcels and acreage slated for lease, at 103 oil and gas parcels covering 72,848 acres in the state. Nevada follows with 11 oil and gas leases covering 19,957 acres. 

The BLM completed scoping on the Colorado parcels in September 2025, the Nevada parcels in August 2025 and the Eastern States parcels in July 2025.
