CNOOC commissions Enping joint development project

CNOOC Ltd. has commenced production from the Enping 15-1/10-2/15-2/20-4 joint oilfields development project in the Eastern South China Sea, the company said in a release Dec. 6.

Main production infrastructure at the fields, which lie in average water depth of 90 m, include two drilling production platforms and one unmanned wellhead platform. The project envisages 48 production wells to be commissioned. Peak production of 35,500 b/d of crude oil is expected in 2024.

The joint development employs the first newly built unmanned platform in the Eastern South China Sea, which has been equipped with the function of remote production under typhoon mode, the company said. One CO2 injection well for reinjection and storage is planned, making it the first offshore carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstration project in China, CNOOC continued.

CNOOC is operator of the field with 100% interest.
