Suncor Energy has restarted the bitumen upgrader in Fort McMurray, Alta., that it shut down in March for unplanned maintenance (OGJ Online, Mar. 14, 2012).

It has two upgraders at the site with total capacity to produce 350,000 b/d of synthetic crude oil.

The shutdown, related to fractionator performance, had cut production to about 140,000 b/d.
