Libya NOC: Sharara field shut down again

Production at Sharara field was ceased June 9 and a force majeure declared on crude exports following actions by an armed group affiliated with Colonel Mohamed Khalifa, Libya’s National Oil Corp. reported in a release June 9.

The group entered Sharara field from Sebha the evening of June 8, 3 days after the field’s return to production, the company said (OGJ Online, June 8, 2020). The field likes 900 km south of Tripoli.

The National Oil Corp. said that it has notified the Office of the Attorney General of the event and “will take every possible action to prosecute these criminals at the local and international levels.”
