Upland Resources Ltd., through subsidiary Upland Resources (Wyoming) Ltd., has confirmed start of the second phase of Lost Soldier Oil and Gas GLLC’s (LSOG) gas development program in the Green River basin of Wyoming.

GMF-5, the third well in the program, spudded on Sept. 18, and is planned to drill to about 19,000 ft (c. 5,800 m) to target a new overpressured zone beneath formations identified from the first two wells of LSOG Phase 1, Upland Resources said in a release Sept. 21.

GMF-5 is intended to provide further information on the deeper resource potential, with an opportunity to advance understanding of the Niobrara and Frontier formations, which represent important deep, high-pressure targets within the project.

Drilling and well operations are expected to take about 60 days, according to Upland Resources.

The potential reserve estimate from the two wells drilled during LSOG Phase 1 is 5-6 tcf of gas across multiple stacked natural gas formations.

Together, LSOG’s three wells are planned to connect to a 5.3-mile connector pipeline linking the field to existing regional pipeline networks capable of transporting about 400 MMcfd of gas, with first commercial gas sales targeted for fourth-quarter 2026, subject to successful completion of the required development and operational activities.

A survey is underway, pipeline preparations are advancing, and additional infrastructure is being installed to support the program, Upland Resources said.

These developments will transition the LSOG project from geological and resource evaluation towards commercial development and production.

Wild Mustang gas field in central Wyoming is an emerging natural-gas development within the LSOG-operated Wild Mustang Federal Unit (WMFU) in Bison basin, a sub-basin of the prolific Green River basin north of Rawlins.

Wild Mustang includes 56 leases covering about 24,000 acres within and about 15,000 additional acres outside of the WMFU, and a 250,000-acre area of mutual interest supporting potential long-term development.

Two wells— Found Soldier #1 and Green Mountain #4—have been drilled to date, confirming about 3,400 ft of stacked pay across five zones, with further identified potential yet to be drilled.

Starup of LSOG’s Phase 2 builds on the framework agreement between LSOG and Upland Resources announced in November 2025, a $100-million strategic funding commitment announced in January 2026, and a bilateral options agreement announced in March 2026.
