Horizon Petroleum to start Lachowice gas development in southern Poland

The operator is preparing for well re-entry and seismic surveys at Lachowice, aiming to optimize reservoir development.

Key Highlights

  • Horizon Petroleum will begin activities for the Lachowice gas development project in southern Poland.
  • The Lachowice 7 well will be worked over and the company will acquire a seismic survey.
  • First gas is expected in first half 2027.

Horizon Petroleum Ltd. will workover the Lachowice 7 well (L7) and obtain 3D seismic for its Lachowice gas development project in the Bielsko-Biala concession in southern Poland.

The L7 well pad construction contract is finalized, with field operations expected to start in June. Relocation of a power line at the well site is complete, giving the company unrestricted access for heavy equipment mobilization and the start of construction activities.

The company said drilling rig contract discussions are advanced, with the re-entry and recompletion operations expected to begin in July. All long-lead items, including wellhead and tubing, have been secured and delivered in-country.

Production from the well will serve as a long-term test of the naturally fractured Devonian limestone and dolomite reservoirs encountered at Lachowice, the company said. Production data will help refine the wellbore completion design and field development plan.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit application for the L7 early production facility has been submitted to the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDEP), with approval anticipated before yearend.

Horizon is targeting initial gas and/or electricity sales and first cash flow from the early development phase late in first-half 2027.

The company has completed surveying activities related to the planned 75 sq km 3D seismic program covering the Lachowice project area. Acquisition of the seismic survey is scheduled to begin in second-quarter 2027.

Horizon also has initiated discussions with the regional gas distribution and pipeline operator regarding future access to transportation infrastructure. Concurrently, work is underway with the local municipality to rezone lands identified for the planned gas processing plant and future well sites for industrial use.

Horizon Petroleum is operator and holds 100% working interest in the Bielsko-Biala and Cieszyn concessions in southern Poland.
