Assala Gabon starts production from Grand N’Gongui field
Key Highlights
- Assala Gabon started production from Grand N’Gongui (GNG) field.
- Expected peak production is more than 10,000 bo/d.
Assala Gabon started oil production from Grand N’Gongui (GNG) field in the Ogooué-Maritime province of Gabon.
The field contains a 10–15 m oil rim within the Gamba formation, with up to 350 MMstb of stock tank oil initially in place (STOIIP). Peak production of more than 10,000 bo/d is expected through a phased development approach, designed to reduce subsurface uncertainty and optimize long-term recovery.
The project was delivered within 12 months, from engineering to completion and start-up. Execution required simultaneous progression of engineering and procurement activities, continuous design adaptation and the implementation of mitigation measures to address significant supply chain constraints.
Development involved logistics across multiple regions and the deployment of pipeline technologies adapted to a lagoon environment, as well as tailored installation solutions.
Following drilling of the NG-3 in 2022, Assala completed the appraisal program in 2025 and is now progressing a phased development supported by a recently approved 60-well program.
