Georgina Energy to drill in Western Australia
Georgina Energy PLC received approval to drill the onshore Hussar Prospect in Officer basin, Western Australia.
The drilling approval allows Georgina Energy via its 100% wholly owned subsidiary, Westmarket Oil and Gas Pty. Ltd. to extract helium, hydrogen, and natural gas from the prospect.
The approval also enables the company to start work on infrastructure comprising access roads, a drilling pad, and an airstrip to facilitate mobilization of a drilling rig and support equipment to site.
The Hussar prospect is in exploration permit (EP) 513 and lies near the Gunbarrel Highway some 1,600 km from Port Hedland and a similar distance from Darwin. Georgina Energy intends to re-enter and deepen the EP513 Hussar well to a depth of 3,200 m. Hussar has a potential in-situ value of US$55 billion of helium and hydrogen, and US$5.24 billion of natural gas.
Georgina Energy holds a 100% working interest in EP513.
