Petro-Victory Energy Corp. has spudded the SJ‑12 well at São João field in Barreirinhas basin, on the Brazilian equatorial margin, Maranhão.

Drilling and testing SJ‑12 is aimed at proving enough gas can be produced to sell locally.

The well forms part of the single non‑associated gas well commitment under a memorandum of understanding signed in 2024 with Enava. São João contains 50.1 bcf (1.4 billion cu m) non‑associated gas resources.
