SDX Energy PLC spudded the Hanut-1 (HA-1X) exploration well in South Disouq gas field in the Nile Delta, following the successful IY-2 well (OGJ Online, Jun. 28, 2021).

HA-1X is the second well in the company's 2021 two-well drilling campaign on the Hanut prospect. It spudded on Aug. 4 and is targeting a Basal Kafr El Sheikh prospect at about 5,200 ft TVDSS. The well is expected to take about one month to drill, and SDX will provide updates on drilling and, if successful, testing operations.

The Hanut prospect is estimated to contain gross unrisked mean recoverable volume of 139 bcf (23.2 MMboe) with a 33% chance of success.

SDX is operator of South Disouq (55%).
