HOUSTON, Mar. 5 -- Unocal Corp. unit Unocal Indonesia Co., Balikpapan, Indonesia, resumed oil and gas production from its Attaka field off Indonesia Monday. The field, 19 km east of Tanjung Santan, East Kalimantan, had been shut in for 8 days following a flash fire Feb. 21 on one of the company's platforms.

The fire, which injured nine persons, was immediately extinguished, the company said, and the field temporarily shut in pending an investigation of the incident and assurance that operations could be conducted safely.

Unocal has been producing from supergiant Attaka oil field since the 1970s (see map, OGJ, Jan. 24, 1994, p. 14).
