Petronas discovers hydrocarbons offshore East Java

Petronas North Ketapang Sdn. Bhd. made its first hydrocarbon discovery at the Barokah-1 exploration well within the North Ketapang Production Sharing Contract (PSC), offshore East Java, Indonesia.

The well was spudded on Nov. 30, 2025, and successfully drilled to 3,315.3 m TVD subsea. Further studies will be undertaken to evaluate the well results and determine the discovery’s potential.

Petronas is operator of the North Ketapang PSC (51%) with partners Earthon North Ketapang Pte. Ltd. (34%) and PT. Pertamina Hulu Energi North Ketapang (15%).
