PGNiG Upstream Norway AS has let a contract for use of Odfjell Drilling Ltd.’s Deepsea Yantai drilling rig.
The contract includes drilling of one firm well, Tomcat, in PL 1055 in the Norwegian Sea, with the option to drill two further wells in 2024. The firm scope of work is estimated to take 55 days and will begin in second- or third-quarter 2024.
With the contract, the firm backlog for the rig is expected to extend into third-quarter 2024.
PGNiG is operator of the licnese with 60% interest. Partner is A/S Norske Shell with 40%.
