The US drilling rig count increased 5 units to reach 461 rigs working for the week ended June 11, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 182 units from the 279 rigs working this time a year ago.

The US drilling rig count increased 5 units to reach 461 rigs working for the week ended June 11, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 182 units from the 279 rigs working this time a year ago. The number of rigs drilling offshore was unchanged at 13, also unchanged year-over-year.

US oil-directed rigs increased by 6 to reach 365 units. Rigs targeting gas decreased by 1 to 96.

Canada’s rig count increased 16 units to 93 rigs drilling for the week. The is 77 rigs higher than the 21 units drilling this week a year ago. At 59 units, Canada’s oil-directed rig count is up 16 units for the week. The gas-directed rig count in Canada remained unchanged at 34.
