North Oil Co. (NOC) and Total E&P Danmark AS separately awarded Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms Pte. Ltd. contracts supporting redevelopment efforts at Al Shaheen and Tyra fields in Qatari waters and the Danish North Sea, respectively.
Sembcorp Marine will fabricate two wellhead platforms for the NOC-operated Al Shaheen oil field, bridge-linking them to existing structures. Awarded under NOC's Gallaf Batch 2 project, the contract covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and offshore brownfield integration of the platforms, to be operational at Al Shaheen by December 2021.
Gallaf is a multiphase development for maintaining Al Shaheen's production at a plateau of 300,000 b/d. Situated 80 km north of Ras Laffan, Al Shaheen is the largest oil field in Qatar, contributing up to 45% of its oil production.
Separately, Sembcorp Marine as a subcontractor will fabricate certain platforms and bridges for Total E&P Denmark AS’s Tyra Redevelopment project. To be ready first-quarter 2021, the platforms will, in part, replace ageing equipment and sustain output of 60,000 boe/d at Tyra field for the next 25 years.
Tyra is the largest gas condensate field in the Danish sector of the North Sea. Post-redevelopment, it will produce enough gas to power 1.5 million homes in Denmark, according to Sembcorp.
The combined contracts are worth more than S$550 million.
