The worldwide rig count for October was 2,271, up 13 from the 2,258 counted in September and up 194 from the 2,077 counted in October 2017.

The average US rig count for October was 1,062, up 9 from the 1,053 counted in September and up 140 year-over-year.

Europe is up 6 units to reach 92 in October and up 1 unit year-over-year.

Latin America is up a single unit from the previous month at 193 and up 16 units year-over-year.

The Asia-Pacific region is down 1 unit during the month to 221, but up 8 units from its year-ago average.

The Middle East is up 9 units month-over-month at 404, 19 units above its year-ago average.

The average Canadian rig count for October was 192, down 9 from the 201 counted last month and down 12 from the 204 counted a year ago.
