Operator Mubadala Petroleum and its partners have approved a four-well drilling program in Manora oil field in the Gulf of Thailand to be drilled by the Ensco 115 jack up starting around May 16, said partner Tap Oil Ltd. of Perth.

The total estimated cost of the Manora drilling program is $11.8 million, Tap Oil said. It outlined the following drilling plans:

• Manora-8 exploration well will test the Manora Footwall prospect, a large aerial closure in the upthrown (footwall) side west of the Manora Central block. The primary objective is the 600 series sands. The Manora-8 will be drilled as a deviated hole to test multiple horizons. The well also will test secondary targets, including shallower reservoirs and a deeper objective where oil shows were encountered in the MNA-17 well.

• Manora-8ST1 will appraise multiple reservoir zones updip of MNA-18 in the eastern fault block. The Manora-8ST will be sidetracked from Manora-8, primarily to appraise the 300 to 500 series of reservoirs. The sidetrack will provide a pilot for ongoing development of the MNA-19, targeting the 490-60 oil pool.

• MNA-20 development well will be drilled from the Manora platform to produce undeveloped attic and bypassed oil from the 490-60 reservoir in the eastern fault block about 460 m south of MNA-18. MNA-20 likely would be brought on stream using an existing slot on the Manora platform. If Manora-8 or Manora-8ST1 are successful, MNA-20 will be deepened to appraise the 500 sands in the eastern flaut block or the footwall reservoir. Planned TD of the well is 5,500-6,900 ft.

• MNA-21 development well will be drilled from the Manora platform to produce potential bypassed and attic oil from the 490-60 reservoir. If the Manora-8 exploration well is successful, it will be deepened to test an additional objective in the footwall fault block to appraise and potentially produce from the footwall reservoir (VMIT-22). Plans call for MNA-21 production to use an existing slot on Manora platform. Planned TD of the well is 7,000 ft.
