Adma-Opco lets single-order contract for offshore platform

Adma-Opco, a unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., has awarded a $1.6 billion contract to Hyundai Heavy Industries for construction of offshore oil and gas production facilities for Adma-Opco's Umm Shaif project.

HOUSTON, Oct. 2 -- Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co. (Adma-Opco), a unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., has awarded a $1.6 billion contract to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for construction of offshore oil and gas production facilities for Adma-Opco's Umm Shaif project.

The project involves the construction of three 40,000-ton fixed platforms, subsea pipelines, and bridges off Abu Dhabi. HHI will carry out all phases of the project on a turnkey basis, including engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

The Umm Shaif project, due for completion by 2010, will produce 300,000 b/d of oil and 1 bcfd of gas.
