LNG Canada awards Coastal GasLink Phase 2 EPCM contract to Técnicas Reunidas
LNG Canada has awarded TR Canada E&C Inc., a division of Técnicas Reunidas SA, the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contract for Phase 2 of the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline. The contract award follows LNG Canada reaching its Phase 2 final investment decision.
The project includes five additional compressor stations, as well as modifications to both existing and planned infrastructure along the pipeline’s existing 670-km route from Dawson Creek to the LNG plant in Kitimat, BC. It is designed to double the pipeline’s 2.1-bcfd capacity.
Técnicas Reunidas expects execution to take more than 4 years, starting in early 2027. The contract is worth more than €200 million ($225 million).
CGL Phase 2 will be delivered through an integrated execution model, with LNG Canada leading project construction as Phase 2 execution manager, TR Canada E&C providing EPCM services, and CGL co-owner TC Energy Corp. (35%) remaining owner, operator, and permit holder. CGL is operated by TC Energy, with KKR and AIMCo holding the remaining 65% equity interest.
FN CGL Pipeline LP, an Indigenous-led investment entity, finalized an economic interest agreement with TC Energy in October 2026, giving five First Nations a direct stake in TC Energy's limited partner interest. The participating nations include Haisla Nation, Halfway River First Nation, McLeod Lake Indian Band, Saulteau First Nations, and West Moberly First Nations.
