Texas LNG signs second natural gas liquefaction agreement with EQT

Texas LNG Brownsville LLC signed a 20-year heads of agreement with EQT Corp for 1.5 million tpy of liquefaction services at its 4-million tpy plant to be constructed in the Port of Brownsville.

Texas LNG Brownsville LLC, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition LLC, has signed a 20-year heads of agreement with EQT Corp for 1.5 million tonnes/year (tpy) of liquefaction services at its 4-million tpy plant to be constructed in the Port of Brownsville.  The agreement is the second with EQT and brings its total contracted capacity to 2 million tpy (OGJ Online, Jan. 12, 2024).

Texas LNG also has an offtake agreement in place with Gunvor Group Ltd., through Gunvor Singapore Pte. Ltd., for 20-years free-on-board purchase of 0.5 million tpy (OGJ Online, Mar. 18, 2024).  

“With this announcement with EQT and additional offtake sales to be announced soon, we will reach financial close and the start of construction in the fourth quarter this year,” said Brendan Duval, Glenfarne chief executive officer and founder. Texas LNG is scheduled to start commercial operations in 2028.

Glenfarne, the majority owner and managing member of Texas LNG, is also the sole owner and developer of the 8.8-million tpy Magnolia LNG plant in Lake Charles, La.
