Texas LNG Brownsville LLC has signed a heads of agreement with EQT Corp. for natural gas liquefaction services at its 4-million tpy LNG plant being developed at the Port of Brownsville, Tex.

Texas LNG Brownsville LLC, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition LLC, has signed a heads of agreement (HOA) with EQT Corp. for natural gas liquefaction services at its 4-million tonne/year (tpy) LNG plant being developed at the Port of Brownsville, Tex. The HOA anticipates the finalization of a definitive 15-year LNG tolling agreement for 0.5 million tpy of LNG from Texas LNG’s 2-million tpy first train.

The company is targeting financial close and the start of construction in 2024 to begin commercial operations late 2027 or early 2028. Notwithstanding the deal with EQT, which operates in Marcellus and Utica shales, Glenfarne intends to access Permian and Eagle Ford production for the project.

Glenfarne last month signed an MOU with ABB Ltd. to “collaborate on core automation and electrical equipment” for the plant. The agreement included a framework by which ABB could invest in the plant (OGJ Online, Dec. 11, 2023).

Glenfarne is also the sole owner and developer of the 8.8-million tpy Magnolia LNG plant in Lake Charles, La.
